my boat leaks, what should I do?

Hello again fellow boaters. Today I took my 1963 starcraft seascamp for a leak test run and it looks like I have 2 leaks. One at the corner of the transome where the ridge rib meets the stern and one in the middle of the boat somewhere along the bottom rib. Any suggestions on how to seal them up?

I suggest 3M5200. Caulk it & it should be fine. I suggest buying it at Home Depot or another big box retailer. Marine Stores will charge up to 3 times as much as other retailers. If you want to be on the water in less than a week get the fast cure, it cures in 24 hours vs. 7 days. I haven't personally used it yet but I've heard & have personally seen great results. Hopefully tomorrow if everything goes to plan I will be able to caulk a few leaks too in my old v hull with a tube I just bought.

I'd be more concerned about the one at the transom. I'm not exactly sure where it is at based on your description, but the transom takes a lot of stress and I'd be worried the leak would get worse overtime. I'm one that likes to fix things like that permanetly. Which would either be welding or replacing a solid rivet. Same thing with the other leak. Best way to see exaclty where it is leaking is to fill the hull with water and look from underneath.

I think You should start by cleaning all that buggered up goo
out of there .
Get down to clean aluminum so You can see what the problem is.

The stern one is a bit concerning, but should be fixable.
