I believe the problem is now solved.

Stickon led light strips off amazon. $11 for 16 feet. I had to use a bead of silicone to hold it on, the 3m tape wasn't enough.

LOL I'm with BB on this one.

I guess when you take it out at night, you can decide how many
switches you can put in line to isolate only a few inches of lights at a time.
