My Free Boat Mod.

That's right, boat & trailer, FREE. Got to love it. I got it awhile ago, but haven't been able to do anything until I finished up a bunch of honey do projects. Still haven't finished up them all, but I'm close. But, seeing how the wife left town today and isn't coming back until Sunday, I figure I can roll it out of the garage and at least start figuring out what I need to fix before mods can start and what questions I have since I have never had a tin boat.

Here is the boat now. I know. I know. The water is supposed to be on the outside of the boat. I figured since I was waiting for it to fill to check where the leaks are, I would snap a few pics.

That thing on the bottom was a drain.

Thingie on the stern might have held the post for a running light.

Perfect project boat. We'll see how long you can call it "free" though.

I would say its a Meyers. I have a 12 foot Meyers. As said before the thing on the botom that leaks was the drain.


Here is my 12 footer, I was told it was a 64.

Here is the framing that will be coming out. It had plywood and astro turf on it. I will be putting a floor in as low as I can get it. You guys with the deck even with the gunnels scares the crap out of me.

I agree with that. The first thing I did when I got my boat (wasn't free though) was to pull the decking that the previous owner (or the owner before him) had installed. I live close to two BIG lakes - Barkley & Kentucky - and I see guys out in 12' to 16' Jons with pedestal seats mounted on decking which is on top of the seats put in by the makers. I don't spend a lot of time in my boat (1648) on the big lakes but still want to be able to get down in the boat if I have to. The advantage of the height is far outweighed by the disadvantage of being top heavy.
