so when i look for boats i always check for the NADA pricing on the boat and other equipment. i just wondering how close to that someone should stick when boat shopping. or is it just like cars where u should get the boat under the nada price. i ask because i havent seen many boats listed at NADA price, or for that matter even close. thx

NADA is nada (as in nothing, zip, zero etc) as far as I am concerned. It is good for the first 4 or 5 years on larger boats, but useless on smaller/older stuff. It follows a slide rule, not actual sales. After the 5 years, some boats have a higher actual value, for a number of reasons, than the slide rule dictates. And, if they still work, boat values will stop dropping when they reach a bottom, whereas NADA pricing will keep going downwards into the 30 and 40 dollar pricing. I tell ya, if you can find me a 1987 Johnson 110 horse in running condition for under 400 bucks, I will buy it sight unseen*.
