NEED HELP 1973 Evinrude 25hp

just got a jonboat it has A runing 1973 Evinrude 25hp elec start/pullstart it goes in foward & reverse with no problum . it starts right up with no problum BUT the idle is ruff. the guy I bought it from said it has not ran in a year and I think the gas is bad. but I dont relly know about this stuff . what do you guys think also if you guys know any known problums with these motor please let me know thanks

Those are points motors.(.020 gap)

Replace impeller.

Try a gallon of fresh gas with 3/4 of a can of seafoam.

thanks guys yea just picked up some Seafoam that stuff is great .and do you guys know where I can find a impeller .also I sorry but what does points motor meen?

There's a set of points under the flywheel that need to be cleaned & set.You need a puller to pull flywheel off.
Get a repair manual for your motor. :roll: Best money you'll spend. =D>

Try Napa for the impeller.
