My wife has decided we need a new mattress set. Our is almost 7 years old which is still new in my mind. She has expressed an interest in the Sleep Number beds. Does anyone have any of these and which model do you have. I was thinking about either the 4000, 5000 or 7000. Those things are pretty expensive too.

I had a "Select Comfort" bed, which is what Sleep Number was originally called (left it behind in my divorce). Slept on it for almost 10 years without ever having a sore back in the morning after living 20 years with a stiff, sore back. I replaced a waterbed when I bought it and my ex pitched a fit about it until I showed her the seperate controls for firmness (kingsize bed). The cost isn't really that much more than a top of the line mattress and the Select Comfort can be replaced piece by piece if something wears out or gets damaged (things very rarely break). The pillow top zips on and off, the air chambers can be replaced (I had a seam fail because the mattress was in a waterbed frame and wasn't completely deflated when the sheets were changed, stressing the seam.)

I'd recommend one in a heartbeat.

Sorry... can't say I recall the model. I do know it was just a replacement mattress for our waterbed (California King Size) with no foundation included.

I'm sure they've at least changed the model numbers, if not the entire product line by now.

I don't have one of the sleep number beds but my brother swears by his...
he has had it for several years and raves about it.
i have a Stearn's and fosters pillow top king that was $2600 for the set.
it is great I sleep like a baby
