First I will start off by saying there are alot of nice decked boats!! I have noticed that people use aluminum or 2x2 for deck bracing! I think I answered my own question with the weight issue! Which one is truly better?

I would go with aluminum if money was no issue. But either will do. What kind of boat are you doing this on?
 
aluminum will last longer weighs less but costs 2ce as much

white wood will still last a good long while, weighs more, but costs less

Its a Alumacraft 1448! I have a old 1962 Sears 1230, its a bit narrow, so I bought a new boat!!
