I just picked up a new 1436 from BassPro and after reading the many builds i like the idea of putting in floors. My question is are the floors physically connected to the frame of the boat or are they resting on the bottom? Thanks for any info.

I've seen it done both ways - for now I'm going to build mine so they are removable - not attached to the boat. I'll try that for a while and then decide if I want to build a deck extension out of aluminum.

Soooo many ways to do it

I also have to see how my 4 hp pushes the 1436 around - I'm thinking i'll have to trade my 4hp and 2hp for a nice 9.9. I want to stay 10hp or less for the small lakes.

I added square aluminum tubing to the ends to match the ribs and laid it in so tight screws are not necessary unless you carry it upside down. It works great, and when necessary I poke my fingers down the side and lift it out.

You didn't mention doing this, but are you going to install closed cell foam between the hull and the floor for flotation or noise deadening? If so, you should physically attach the flooring to the hull so it and the foam stay in the boat in the (unlikely) event of a swamping.
