My buddy and I hit Newton Lake today(8am-1pm), fished it hard and heavy, threw rattle traps, red-eye shads, senkos, creatures, flappen hogs, lake fork craw tubes, jackall cover craw, spinner baits, baby 1-, and finally had to whip out the dreaded slider and caught the Skunk .

We saw dead sunnies, crappies, bluegills, shad and bass, some of the shad were 9-10 inches, some were swimming right under the surface/had big red open sores on their faces. There was a guy there from the county checking out the floaters and a lady from the state that was taking water samples. If there is a problem I hope they find it and correct the situation.

Thanks for the report. I was at a lake last year and witnessed the same thing you are describing....Speedwell Forge Lake in PA

It has a little tidal influence from the Delaware River, maybe some factory along that stretch between the Delaware and Newton dumped something or had an accidental spill, the guy from the county said they had something like this happen before at another lake and an underground oil pipe to a school had leaked, we shall see what the water samples produce.
