I tried using the search function but couldn't find a topic that I saw here about someone who installed a car running board on the trailer to walk on while launching/loading a boat.

I just came back from a week of fishing in the Eastern Sierras and getting wet on the ramp is getting old! The water levels in the lakes are way down this year so the trailer has to be backed down a lot more. Even my van exhaust pipe was blowing bubbles this time!

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The car running boards is my post on what I did to my trailer. I also install a eye bolt on back of trailer and made a rope little longer then boat. hooked one end on eye bolt on trailer and other on front of eye bolt on boat. I would then back up til boat floated of then slowly drive ahead pulling boat behind trailer up to area I could get out and walk down trailer to get to boat without stepping in any water.

Not a car running board but here are a couple of ideas

Thanks for both of the ideas. That running board idea was the one I was looking for as it will allow me to be able to get really close to the bow so I can position the boat on the first rear roller in the really shallow water level ramps. With the bunks half way in the water the mini bunk guides I have make it easy, but with really shallow water it becomes a real challenge.

I may also incorporate the other idea of the short walk step near the crank area too. I'm getting too old these days.

Thanks again!
