My wife found a boat in a tidal stream behind our house. The boat was partially sunk and had been there for some time. She has since pulled it from the water and removed debris and such from inside the boat and out side to reveal it is a 14 ft Ouachita Jon Boat. The only other markings are a partial registration For Virginia. I have called our state boat licensure division and they have no record of the boat. Also missing is any plate indicating max passengers or a serial/model number of any kind. I am interested in any information such as max HP, weight etc that I can get before I decide on this as a refurbishment project. The only hull intrusion is a small slit on the transom about 4" above the waterline. I will have to replace the starboard oar chock as that is missing as well. Also which is a little different is there is no drain plug in the hole, so I am wondering just how old this boat may be. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Now you need to post some pictures showing the style and construction detail. Next it would be helpful to have some width/beam measurements. What state are you located in or do you know the process for obtaining a registration in your state? You wouldn't want to invest a lot of time/money into the boat if you can't register it.
