As I been looking for a new motor, I noticed that some motors that are rated 9.9 HP shows the CC of the engine being between 209cc on a Tohatsu and Nissan ( same motor) and 323cc on a mercury.

What about Parsun outboards or APS outboards? Anyone heard of these?

I am leaning towards the Tohatsu 9.8 with 15inch with electric start.

I'd stay away from the Parsun, cheap Chinese, old technology(Yamaha)and probably no service where your at.Only last about a year/so,IMO.
I've heard alot of good things about the other two.
Where you are at,is there any concern about a 2 stroke ban on certain lakes?
May want to look at a 4 stroke technology.

I am going 4 stroke. I looked at the CC rating again and the one website I viewed must have been wrong. The Merc and the Tohatsu have the same CC of 209cc but the gearing is a tad different.

I think I will just get the Tohatsu, its a little less expensive than the Nissan ( same motor) and the Merc. and it has a 3 year warranty.

Gowith the Tohatsu/Nissan and definately not the china made stuff.
My Nissan is 10 years old and has had only 1 repair: a carb cover gasket. Run like a champ when I dont have water in my gas but that is a different story.

APS is made by Tomos. They are quality 4 stroke outboards but only available in Canada at the moment. They also only come in tiller steer. You can buy them and have them shipped here, but getting parts can be a long wait until they establish dealers in the US. https://www.advancepowersports.ca/index.html
