My batteries bounce all over in my bilge area. I know they make trays to mount them but how do you mount the tray when it is against the bottom of the boat? Anybody have experience with this? Thanks!

If the mounting area is flat, then you could 3M 4200 or 5200, just rough up the surface with some sandpaper, and follow directions. It takes up to a week for the 5200 to cure depending on the version you get, the quick set is 24 hrs I think. Goop is also an option as well

I have my battery in one of the plastic battery boxes. I used 1/8" thick, 1" aluminum angle and made a tray that the box fit in. The strap that holds the lid on the box goes around this tray to hold the battery down as well. I then welded brackets to the front and rear that extend upward so it can be mounted to the back of the bench and to the reinforced upper area of the transom. This moves the mounting areas up high and no holes go through the hull. Hope this makes sense.

I had the same problem in a boat a long time ago. I cut a few 2x6's in the shape of a capitol letter "I" then just dropped them in for a snug fit. The battery kind of wedged in and held firm No fasteners needed. the weight of the boards kept themselves in place, that and being a snug fit. Worked great and was cheap.

I used a battery box with straps. Came with plastic brackets to fasten to flat surface, feed strap through and over battery box. I have a floor though.
