Picked up Eldorado today

I picked up the Lone Star Eldorado today.
It seems to be in really nice shape.
I am going to remove floor and paint inside and replace flotation.
The wiring is a mess. I will completely rewire.
I am thinking about an aluminum floor with carpet.
Any input would be appreciated.
Several have expressed concerns about oversize motor. If I change motor would twin 40 hp motors be a good idea.
Previous owner converted to hydraulic steering.

I think twin 40's would take away from it.

The hydraulic steering will need modification or possible replacement to handle two motors. New controls for motors.

I'd wait until you have removed the floor before deciding on with what. See what you have to work with for floor supports, etc.
 
Duals would be cool but they're a little underwhelming from a performance standpoint. Twice the weight, twice the drag. Good for redundancy and the cool factor though.
 
I like the twins idea, back in the day people would run twin 18's. You can boogie up on speed with the 2 and cruise economically with just using one.

I'm looking at that being a hot ride in Alabama, no cut through on the windshield and that hard top will hold in the heat.
 
Usually when people think of twin engines they're thinking of the advantage of maneuverability when docking and such but small outboards are not available in counter rotation. Doubling up on right hand torque removes some of that advantage and will increase port side list when on plane.

We're talking twin 40's here, I doubt they will notice any torque steer. Way back when HP wars are at the 100 mark people with the money had twin 50's, 65's, 70's, and even 85's and it was normal. If the OP felt it was an issue he could always use trim tabs.
