So after perusing these boards and getting enough inspiration and ideas to pull the trigger on my first jon boat, a buddy and I decided to head down the road and pick up something we found on craigslist. It was beat up just right to where we can still make her sparkle. Turns out the boat is older than us. It's a 1988 Grumman 1437 that we plan on fishing in the lakes and inshore scene of North Florida.
A little background, I built a 16' wood and fiberglass boat back in 2009 that has been serving me well and I have been modifying it every season to suit my fishing needs. Learned a whole lot from that build and every improvement that's come since. Oh and the "Poon" in my username refers to the silver king, my favorite pursuit.
The major plans for the boat are as follows so far:
1- Repaint
2- Reinforce Transom
3- Build Front Deck
The first pictures are of the boat before we got to working on her and the last few are of what my first boat has done for me.
