Pounding out dents

I have a jon with 100 guage aluminum. I have numerous BIG dents and I want to pound them out. I have flooring in my boat so it would be a pain to take out. Does anyone know if it is possible to pound out large dents with a hammer/mallet?

You'll have to take it out if you want to get to the dents.As long as they are not close to ribs or rivits it should be easy.Make sure that you tap down the high spots on the outside when you get the dent kinda flush from the inside.It will make it stay out and give the aluminum some memory as to where it was orinally.Good Luck.A hammer and dolly works miracles.especially if you have a helper to hold the dolly on the outside for you.
