Had good intensions today.Started off putting a strap instead of rope for my winch, then hammered it back into shape and added a peice of stainless underneath it,to strengthen it.It was bent along the frame making my pulley turn a bit sideways.TM 006.jpg

The factory had my battery box right where I like to put my feet,so I changed that to where I think it should have been in the first place, then painted the spot where the box was.TM 001.jpg

I had some 6 and 14 gauge wire plus a winch plug(50amp),so i thought I'd run a line up to the bow for the trolling motor.I didn't want to put the PVC on the side of the boat because of the holes I'd have to put through the side but I'm thinking now maybe I should have. It's never easy making a 1 inch hole with a 3/8 bit and a chain saw file but I got it done.Ran the PVC on the floor,it won't be in the way when I'm fishing but if I trip once on the thing,I bet I move it.TM 003.jpgTM 004.jpgTM 005.jpg

This is what I ended up withTM 007.jpgTM 009.jpg

I ran the 14 gauge wire for this new purchaseTM 008.jpg

I would of ran the pipe different but my seats and bow are that solid foam, would of been a pain.I going fishing tommorrow I hope I don't trip and fall in...I can't swim.

Zum- Can you move your winch up onto the upright post? It'd give you a stronger mount.

Never thought of that...I'll have to looka some pictures to see exactly what you mean.

ST,

Looks like it is on the upright post. There's a large U-bolt to the very right bottom of the winch, attached to the post. Or it looks like it is.

Kind of hard to tell in the pic, I'm seeing it as the front snubber arm is what's U-bolted-on, and the winch is mounted to that are, not the post. And the piece directly under the drum (I believe is what Zum added) is where the winch actually mounts.

I could be totally wrong (wouldn't be the 1st time  ), but that's how I see it. That would explain the twist he's getting.

Where are the bolts located that bolt the winch to the trailer? Underneath the drum (spool)? If so, then the support for the winch is based on the snubber-arm it's mounted to, and would be stronger moved to the post. Looks like it's also give you more room to crank the winch by adding clearance from the handle to the bow.

The bolts are mounted under the drum.
I'm still not to sure what you mean,as far as mounting it to post..pic would help me get it:)
The frame wasn't as wide as the winch so I guess the strain of winching bent it a bit around the frame. After I pounded it out I put a peice of 3/16 stainless plate under it to support it.Should hold it but a picture of what you mean, would diffenitly help me grasp where on the main post(which is still narrow)the winch might go.

It looks like you boat has the accessory rail gunnel on it like mine does.

Is there a rubber or plastic strip underneath yours? I can't tell.

On the Tritons and War Eagles, that strip pulls out. The strip covers a wireway that is formed into the gunnel extrusion. That is where all of my wires are run from the factory.

Yes,it has the gunnel strips but with the 6gauge wire,it was to big.I couldn't find the rubber strip to put the wires in either and I wanted to keep the wire undercover.TM 002.jpg
Was going to try this and run the other wire in the proper place but the wires still wounldn't be protected from the sun.

Maybe they make a bigger wire holder strip,if you know of any let me know.
I still don't like what I did to the floor.Going on a 4 day trip Sunday,I'll see how much I hate it then.

The wireways on mine are the bigger rails underneath of where you show the wire in that photo. They are pretty big on mine and 6 gauge is no problem. I'm not sure where you would get the rubber trim cover that fits in that track. It's a pretty handy little setup, though.

Move the winch & bolt it to where the red mark is on the post.

In regards to the rubber molding strip, my Lowe rig also has the accsessory rail, and the wiring for the front tm is run through the post rail, with the wiring for the depth finder in the stbd rail. My rig only came with rubber molding in the port rail, as the other had no wiring in it when I bought it. Ord'd the molding for the stbd rail from the dealership and he told me the stuff he sent me was made for a War Eagle, but fits the Lowe's also (which it did). Ask around some marine/boat dealerships if there are any near you.

Hi..justing getting back.
Looked at it more closely today and it will be tight but I think the 6 gauge wire will fit in the strip.Don't know if the rubber wire holder will fit with it but first I'm going to try just running the wires.
The PVC never got in my way but it will look alot nicer running in the rail.Theres know dealers around here but maybe if I need that strip I can order it.
Thanks.

PVC on the floor gone,I knew it would be temperary.I never had any rubber strip to run the wires in though,I don't think one would fit with the wires anyways.Just taped it up with some black tape and finger painted the camo:)fix.jpg
Looks alot better now, except form the hole I have to plug.
edit:I drilled through one of the braces(1inch)and put a short peice of PVC through it...Do you think it will weaken it much,I have 4 braces.I don't think it mattered much.

Zum, they make pop-in plugs for the knock-outs on electrical boxes you could pop one on the hole & repaint it close to match the paint on your boat, probably never see it. All the home improvement stores sell 'em.

Hi all, I'm new here...VERY COOL SITE!!
All this talk about running wires got me to thinkin' Your boat looks similar to mine, if you look hard there may be a wiring conduit already under that flat floor. Mine has a 2" PVC pipe running the length of the boat for the lighting and trolling motor cables. When I recently installed a n electruc anchor winch I fished the power through that conduit. I think most of these boats are made by Lowe so they all have some similarities. I think the factory puts in the conduit to make production easier.

I also have an accessory rail on my boat also. Does anyone have a website that shows what I can buy for it?

Man..I hope there isn't a PVC pipe already.I'll have to look more closely at it.
I havn't found where you can buy the accessories either.Probably have to call Lowe/Crestliner direct.I've seen them in the past can't find the site now,I think the stuff was pretty pricey.
Welcome to the site.
