putting 15 inch motor on bigger hull

Hey good people, I have a mercury 15 hp 4 stroke short shaft I think, I have it on a alumacraft 1436,and this hull is a little to tippsy for me my ??? is how much bigger can I go up and use the same motor I thought about a 1448 but the transom is 19 inches so is there a way to put it on there or what do yall think. get a hull with a sort transom , short transoms are available on most boats .or cut it down welding shops do it all the time , or put a 12" jack plate on it slide it down and bolt the motor to that , just my opinion 36" bottoms were not made for adults... too tippy
