I have an idea for my boat and I want to know what the best way to go about putting my plan into action would be. As you can see there are 2 pieces of carpeted wood to the left and right of my Daughter. This is press board wood covered by carpet and it seems to be deteriorating. If I use a good 1/2-3/4" plywood could I seal it using quality marine grade latex paint? I will obviously have to add holes for my transducer wire and my boat light but I would imagine a good coat or 2 of latex paint would seal the edges and the wood itself correct? I plan to remove the old planks and run a U shaped piece of wood covering the back also as to where I could addd some cup holders, another set or 2 of rod holders and some HDPE cutting boards. What problems would arise from me doing this? I do not plan on taking this boat out in the rain although I do understand rain can hit at anytime but it will not be a practice for me. By the paint program pic I would hope you can see how I wish to utilize the layout towards the back of my boat, with a cut out to fit my motor. I will also have 2 small support beams for the back of the transom part of the new wood layout.
