Reriveting floor

The floor in my 2011 G3 1756SC is loosing rivets. I contacted G3 and they provided the info material BUT I’ve never done anything like this before. Any assistance or advice would be helpful.

As long as the holes are clean and the old rivet post isn't stuck in there, it's a pretty easy job. I bought a rivet gun at the local hardware store and it had fittings for several size rivets. You load the rivet (which you can get at the hardware store) and push it into the hole and start pumping the handle. It takes several pumps to compress the rivet so you need to keep the tool/rivet straight so the rivet will be tight. I moved my console forward and riveted it to the floor and cross braces.

Get the large 'A'-framed rivet tool, if you haven't already, as you'll have carpal tunnel in your wrists after just a few rivets with the std tool.

Looks like there are going to be about 150/200 rivets. I got the feeling I’ll be thanking you for that piece of advice. I’ll give a pre-emptive thanks now and another when the job is finished! :LOL2:

Use all aluminum rivets.

Or better yet use aluminum rivets with steel mandrels. They pull the rivet down about twice as tight and you will have much lees of them coming out. They are slightly more expensive but worth it. As stated if you are going to do this often get an A frame tool or better yet an air over hydraulic. I do metal fabrication and would not touch SS rivets with a hand gun.

The Milwaukee M18 pop rivet tool is just unreal for pop rivets. I had bought a few years ago an air rivet gun to run off my compressor but it failed after a season. I was hesitant to spend so much on a pop rivet gun but my goodness, what an amazing tool. Really happy I bought it.
