After 3 years, noticed I needed to upgrade for 8ga to 6ga for my G3 rig. Found scorch marks on my + terminal and a bet of melted cable for my 24v system.
I tried pulling the cable through various ways, bow, transom and through the center but after 5 hours, it just wasn't working for me.
I'm thinking it would probably just be easier to remove the rivets, run the wire and re-rivet. I'm up for any else's ideas or recommendations.
Thanks

My guess is the manufacturer either zip tied something to the wires or ran them through a loom clamp or something of that nature. Pulling hard may break the zip tie, but may lodge the cable in a loom clamp or between supports. Removing the rivets may be your best option. If you had one of those cameras on a cable you could snake it in and see what's up.

I bought a used alumacraft “crappie jon” with the same issues. The factory spliced about 2 ft of 6 awg at the transom and then ran 8 awg under the deck to the front. The 8 is spliced somewhere as well because the insulation is different at the front. It’s tie wrapped or something and I can’t pull it loose. The 55 ft/lb TM trips on high.
The paint and all is very good and it has carpet so removing the floor is out most likely. I think I would sell the boat and start over first.
I’m going to try a fish tape from the front and buy a prewired harness that has some plastic flex around the wires and just let it hang on the floor. That is some pretty sorry workmanship splicing together pieces of 6 when it would have just cost a few more dollars to do it right with 8 to start with.
Good luck.

After looking at this some more I believe I'm going to install a dashboard of some kind or at least have a removable access plate cut and installed. I could trade up in boats but I go all day on 1 gallon of gas now, that's hard to replace.
