Hey everybody! New here. I just need some help to determine if I should go for it or not. I’ve got a 1991 Sea Nymph 14’ aluminum (see image). I want to start taking it further up rivers. I still want to do some lake fishing. I’m looking at a 214lbs Yamaha 30hp jet outboard motor for speed and to get me through some shallow areas just in case. The boat is rated 35hp. It’s V bottom up front and flat at the stern. There’s a 2-3” center keel from the front to the rear. Is this not a good idea? Has anyone done this?SN14ft.jpg

Yes, it's been done and they work well. Just make sure you get your intake at the correct height. You may have to add risers to your transom. Looking at your boat, your issue is going to be weight in the aft end. You may have to add pods for static flotation. With the semi vee you won't be able to run as shallow as a flat bottom or modified vee will, but it will work.
