Rubber Paint Sealer

My "new" jon boat has several leaks around rivets. I am looking for something to paint the bottom with to seal the leaks that will last for a while and look decent.

It seems all the sealer paints I look at are over $100 a gallon.

I am looking for something a little cheaper.

Rebucking the rivets is the proper fix. If you don't have an air compressor and bucking tools, you can do it with a couple of hammers and the help of a buddy. If you don't fix the rivets, it dosnt matter what you put on them, they will eventually leak again. Once those are fixed, I like a nice coat of Steel Flex on the bottom of my rig.

I don't know what rebucking a rivet means. Can you show me a link? I tried looking on YouTube and didn't find much.

Yes, rebucking the rivets is fairly easy. I found a used 4x rivet gun on Craigslist for 20 bucks. And bought a set of bucking bars from theyardstore.
You can also drill out the rivets, and put new ones in. But I don't think this is necessary after i did the rebucking process myself. i decided to rebuck instead of drill out and replace to save myself time so i can get some fishing in by the end of fall, all the rivets i bucked sealed well.
I also read a post somewhere from a guy who supposedly used to work for valco back in the day, and said when they would get boats in for repairs or leaky rivets they would just rebuck them and not drill/replace. If you do want to drill and replace check out some of DaleH's threads he has lots of good information.

Re-bucking the rivets is the correct way. If, for some reason, you can't get around to it....a smear of 3M 5200 will help, but it won't be permanent.''
