Rusto Alkyd Enamel

On my boat...

Although I am not sure what an alkyd based enamel will do ?

I plan on hitting it with some self etching primer first, then several thin coats of this stuff all around...

accent colors at a later time.

I like Rustoleum paints on tin boats. The professional series is thinner then their regular stuff, you may want to add some hardener to the paint.

This is my 1959 Crestliner . . . about 6 layers of different colors in the past 40 years.
Normal prep - sand, brush, scrape, etc.
Hand Brushed - Rustoleum Oil Stop Sign Red and White. The trailer the same.

I've used that paint with good success on trailers and on boats.

Make sure you sand every inch of the boat. I really like the aluminum primer first. Then roll the paint on fairly fast, without back-rolling, and it self-levels to a beautiful finish.

Alkyd based enamel is basically farm implement paint.

It is very hard, very durable, and in the high gloss variety it is very glossy with a deep shine.

It's great paint.

I've been through many, many gallons of alkyd based enamel in John Deere green.

Check out the "Tractor & Implement Paint" at any farm supply, Agri-Supply, Tractor Supply Co., etc...

I picked up Rustoleum's brochure / color chart at Menards.

That would be real nice, tint. Maybe I would be able to get the deep oD green color I wanted instead of the turd colored brown I ended up with. :LOL2:

I bought a gallon of white at HDepot, and had them tint it the color I wanted, and then added a packet of fine gold glitter.

The results were beautiful.
