Hey guys,
I have had my trolling motor (minnakota) sitting inside for the past few months. I have moved and haven't had time to take the boat out on the water but did keep the trolling motor inside the house where it has not been exposed to the elements at all. I took it outside today to hang in the building and I turned it over and rusty water come pouring out of the head of the motor. Any ideas what might have caused this? Anything at all I can do to fix this problem or is she done?

Thanks,
Chris

How much water was in the motor? Sounds like the seals are bad. Have you tried to connect it up to a battery and see if it works? I had a seal on my Minn Kota Endura go, the motor would work fine out of water but in water it would work for a bit and then cut out. I went with a Brush/Seal Kit from Northland Marine and also replaced the armature. You might be able to just replace the Brush/Seal kit if your armature is in good condition. My trolling motor is as good as new.
