Sabine Lake Flounder

Me and a friend from work took my boat out yesterday morning. We had heard that people were tearing up the trout on the north levee in the mornings and we wanted to get in on some of that. Apparently everyone else heard too because when we got there it was elbow to elbow on the bank and a boat about every 20 ft.

We knew we needed to do something else, so we ran across the lake to the Louisiana bank and fished gulp shrimp up against the grass. Worked out pretty well.

I caught the three flounder on the left, my buddy caught the other two fish. The largest flounder was just short of 21" long. These are the first fish I've caught in this boat. Needless to say I was pretty happy.

Great work! What's the slot size for reds over there? That looks to be about 23-24 inches, and delicious.

Nice looking fish - what are the fluke sizes there - here we are at 4 fish 18 inches or larger

The slot for reds here is 20"-28" and you can keep three. Flounder are five fish at least 15".
