I picked up this boat, thanks to my Father In Law, in Panama City a month or so back. Best I can tell, I got the motor for half price and the boat and trailer free. I started the mod on the trailer and hopefully I'll be moving to the boat soon. I wanted a trailer I could paint, but this one was galvanized and the more I thought about it, don't fix it if it ain't broke. So I'm working on a cold gavanize redo on the trailer, then I'll move to the boat. First question is probably obvious. I want the center bench out, but I'm getting a lot of feedback from folks who tell me it will ruin the structure of the boat. Any help is appreciated on all topics. This is my first mod so I'm scared to death I'm going to screw something up beyond repair. I tried to get a few more pics up but apparently they're to large. I'll try to get them compressed so I can post more.

Hi Cape San Blas. Cool new toy you got there. I live right down the road in Tallahassee. As for removing the center bench, go for it. The only thing you have to worry about is the hull flexing outward slightly after it is removed. However, this can be over come by bracing the span prior to the benches removal. A simple piece of wood/aluminum screwed into the top of the rubrails will keep flexing to a minimum. After all your mods are complete, you can remove the bracing. I had/have a very similar rig that i added a forward casting deck, PVC grab bar to allow me to stand up and see where I'm going, and lots of other DIY stuff. Good luck. Holler if you get stuck.
