Hey all...

So as I prepare to frame for my deck aka, platform... I thought of a few questions and knew you all would have valued insight.

The frame is going to be semi permanent. Meaning, I dont plan on securing it to the actual boat itself, but dont plan on allowing it to move without some removal of pieces and parts.

Using typical 2x4s and 3/4" plywood, with some outdoor/marine carpet. Pretty standard stuff.

Should I waste time, and money on putting a few coats of spar urethane on the frame and plywood for added longevity?

Secondly if i use two pieces of 1/2" plywood sammich'ed together, with some stain, and a few coats of spar on the transom pieces... any chance of cloudy fading due to exposure to sun and water?
(Fresh water boat only, no salty seas for me.)

Thx

Yes, no matter how well taken care of, boats seem to get moisture in every nook and cranny.

2x4's and 3/4" plywood is going to be heavy I used 2x3's and 1/2" plywood.
