I seem to remember small fishing boats, up in Northern Wisconsin, having slatted decking, or floors, in their boats.

They were removable so the boats could be cleaned, as I recall.

Has anyone fabricated such things? Does anyone even remember them?

I'm thinking of maybe putting them into the '55 Model A I'm working on.

I understand the down-sides, like stuff falling through, and the increased maintenance over carpeted exterior plywood decking.

I'd appreciate any input. What woods you might use, fasterners, etc.

Thanks.

White Oak or Cypress for the wood.
But why would you want slotted Decks in a Boat.

Those old wood boats had slotted decks for bailing. Also to prevent Rot with air circulation when they wee pulled out of the water.
