Is the tiller handle on the wrong side? It should be on the opposite side as the prop, unless you mount that thing on the bow. But that doesnt make sense either. Somebody put that engine together wrong.

Funny you should ask. I just talked to Florida Boat Motors today (Florida Boat Motors Link) concerning the same thing. I am looking for a way to troll all weekend without needing to carry more batteries. FBM have several 2 cycle and 4 cycle air and water cooled motors. However, what the guy I talked to said was that running the engine at that low RPMs all the time will cause excessive wear and may not cool the air cooled motors enough to keep them operating. He recommended the Honda 2 HP aircooled motor as it has a forced air fan for cooling. He also suggested that I look into a small 2 cycle generator that has 12 VDC output or battery charging capabilities. I found one at Northern Tool for under $150 and I think this is what I am going to do. I can recharge at night while I am sleeping, enough for the next day.

He said these small motors aren't really designed for long run times but short run times and light vessels like kayaks, canoes and inflatables.

Having said all that; I still think it would work. But for me a $150 generator is the better deal, so I think that is what I am going to do with my set up.

I am thinking the other way around ,trolling with the TM without worrying about the charge, then get back to the dock with the 2 horse, gotta be better then 2 more batteries and another TM no? small vessel, heck I got a 12ft.

If you have a Harbor freight in your area they have that 2 cycle generator on sale for $110 and then if you use their 20% off coupon (there's on in Bassmaster magazine) Then your looking at under $100 with tax. It's the same Chinese generator Northern sells with a different label.
I think they also used to sell that outboard. I couldn't find it on their site so they must have discontinued it.
That outboard would be junk. You couldn't get replacement parts if needed. I would much rather spend $350 on a 30 year old outboard then for that one.

I see used 2 hp Honda's in the $500 range in my area. Overpriced IMHO. Don't you guys ever feel the need to open up that tin boat up and cover some water lol?? If so get a bigger motor.

I'm sure it only has fwd you spin the motor around to go backwards. The pic is still wrong though.

Call the guy in the Florida Boat Motor link, he seems pretty well informed and not afraid to say if his motors will work or not; which I like. But it sounds like for what you want to do this motor was designed for. Run from hole to hole and use trolling motor in between. I think it would work great. I would look at the Florida Boat Motors tho; probably a better motor all the way around and easier to get parts for.

I also see some Evinrude 2 HP motors on Craigslist every now and then.
