This looks very interesting. I believe this is just the beginning wonder where it's going from here?
Video at bottom of link shows more features:

its a neat idea. i especially like the idea that its castable, so you can pitch it somewhere, have a look, and decide if you want to go there or not. you could also check out a spot without disrupting it with trolling motor or engine noise

you can also duplicate the signal and view it from multiple devices.

battery life is not so great. i routinely fish for more than 4 hours.

i also wonder how stable it is in even the lightest chop. its gonna be rolling about and bobbing up and down, that cant make for a good accurate image. you can see the sawtooth pattern in all the demo images. thats the drawback they may never overcome.

pretty neat ice breaker in that field though. it has huge potential. i do wonder if sonar will embrace wireless technology or not.

once tablets are as common as smartphones you might see the pros using tablets and carrying them from the cockpit to the front of the boat when they fish- and co anglers whipping out their own tablet to grab a look at the stream, instead of relying on one display in the cockpit and another at the front of the boat.

Haven't seen it done but seeing the sonar picture on a tablet is available now. Have read on other fishing forums about using the ipad or droid tablet. If you got the $$, its available.

I have used the Navico (Lowrance/ Simrad) GoFree WIFI on both my IPhone and IPad, and it works like a charm. Waiting for the normal "winterrebate" to buy the GoFree myself, as it will make a a great second/ third/ fourth etc screen for any mates fishing with me in my boat. With HDS Touch and Simrad you can controll the MFD, while my HDS Gen 2 can be mirrored but not controlled.

The only disapointing thing is it's not compatibale with Gen 1, disapointing since it's my understanding that it could be if only Navico would upgrade the SW...

Btw, this could be interesting:
