Storing batteries wired together

OK guys, on my boat I have a large 109ah deep cycle battery for trolling motors, and a smaller 17ah battery used for fishers, lights, etc. For storing over winter (in the basement) can I charge each one separately and once full wire them together to sit on a trickle charger? Any downside or possible damage to them?

I see no problem doing that as long as the batteries are of the same voltage.
