I have a new 20hp 4stroke suzuki,i have a new tiller extender but the tiller handle is a bit hard to get the tiller extender on because the tillers rubber handle is so thick. This is probably a dumb question but what can i use to slide the tiller extension over the tiller itself so it's all the way on.I thought of like petroleum jelly.Just a little to slide it all the way on safely and it has the clamps to tighten it up after that.I want to be able to remove it to so does anyone have any tips on this. Will the petroleum jelly ruin the rubber on the tiller or what should i use.I got the tiller at walmart like 3 yrs ago and the suzuki has a thicker handle/tiller then most motors do.I can get it on like a inch or maybe 2 but i know if i jam it on it will never come off,it gets i mean hard to remove just from going on the inch or 2,so i ask is there anything i can use to slide it on easier without ruining the tiller and being able to remove it easy? Thanks for any info.

I was thinking that today, liq dish soap. The thing is i want to make sure down the road it will come off easy also just in case i decide to sell it with out doing any damage to the tiller handle.I'm wondering if i should just make one out of pvc if this one won't fit right.

I’m assuming you can’t make it any bigger, you might want to be careful, I put one on my Yamaha and did not get it on all the way and the handle on the motor came off (broke) I just glued it back on with 5200 and it is fine but the way that tiller handle was made was not good for adding an extension. Since I re-glued it though it is much better and I got the extension all the way on but I was able to open up the socket, mine is just pvc.
