Sorry if this has been gone over before but I did a few searches and nothing came up.

Last season I bought a '96 Evinrude 18 jet. Sweet little motor except a few minor issues. First and foremost is the length of the tiller. Those tiller extensions sold at the store are not the answer. I saw a picture of a fellow who put a 115 tiller on a similar year 50 and the result looked just about right. I asked him if he could share some info on the swap but no reply. Does anyone here have any info or experience with this? I'd love to know more.

Pappy, thanks for the link. Cool stuff. I think I've come across them before. Definitely better than the BPS stuff but I'm really am looking to replace the tiller.

Well, if it helps you any....I have been running this one on my Gheenoe on this engine for probably 5 years now.
Made out of sched. 40 PVC. I had a friend of mine turn down some solid PVC stock for the handle but really not needed. Solid as a rock, not flimsy like the normal commercial ones you mentioned.
