Okay, let's set the stage:
I'm hooking up my new 24 volt trolling motor
I have two batteries set up in the back
Positive 1 goes from circuit breaker wire goes to battery 1
Negative 1 goes to battery 1
Battery 1 Positive goes to Battery 2 Positive
Battery 1 Negative goes to Battery 2 Negative
Positive Side Ground Wire gets connected to Battery 1 Positive
Negative Side Ground Wire goes to Battery 2 Negative and touches terminal,

now ...

GUESS WHAT HAPPENED NEXT???

I'm afraid to ask, Seeing that your posting this, makes me believe you are still alive and still have your site, so it can't be anything too bad.

I'm going to say you plugged them in and fried your charger....

1. I am alive and well.
2. I have my sight.
3. Fortunately, charger was not attached.

Very close though.
As soon as the wire touched the negative, sparks flew, the scent of ozone filled the air and the battery terminal and wire melted.
I will never, ever attempt to connect anything again by memory.
I went back and check the manual. It was connect + to one battery, - to the other battery and then the link between + of one to - of other for ground.

I got all kinds of cornfused with all them connections but have never heard of a positive side ground wire and never heard of a ground wire of any sort going to positive. (except the old positive ground systems on older cars) TM wasn't connected was it? Hope you didn't fry anything. Glad you didn't get hurt too.
