I went up to my cabin on saturday, planning to do some work around the place, but my uncle, g-pop and another member left soon after I got there. I had planned to fish an easy access spot after doing some work, so I did bring a rod and tackle. Since they all left, I decided to make the trek to my favorite spot. I have never fished there alone, as it is an almost 4 mile hike, and I would not want to get hurt out there and be totally screwed, but I decided to go anyway. I made it out there just after 1:00 and was happy to see the water was a gorgeous blue green, and not mud since we have had a lot of rain lately. The water was about a foot higher than normal and flowing pretty fast.
Since the flow was going pretty good, I figured the fish would be around the banks in the rocks and wood, but the only thing in the structure was carp. I started off with a shakey head and a jd baits craw, but snagged up quickly. I grabbed my other rod with a daiwa db minnow on it and started working the channel. Within 15 mins I was hooked up. The fight was really wierd, I did not know what was going on. Turns out I had a foul hooked smallie around 15" on. Soon after I landed another around 12", this one was hooked in the mouth with the tail hook and in the back with the belly hook, so the fight was also wierd. I then proceeded to lose a good fish that was peeling line like crazy.
I watched a few kayakers float by, as I hooked another 12" smallie on a t-rigged pearl senko with a 1/4 bullet. I decided to eat lunch as the yakers were practically playing drums on their yaks as they slowly floated by. I finished eating and saw a canoe floating down  So I quickly started casting a jerkbait again. The canoe just passes me and I hook into another decent fish. This one was also hooked wierd, but was still able to rip drag. It went probably almost 16" and was fatter than the first fish. I fished for another two hours and headed back the cabin.
I really cannot complain, but after walking that long to fish, I always hope for more. Fish pics are crappy :|
Before I casted in
