Having no experience with electric motors, can someone explain how it works, the basics, I like to power my 12ft with a fairly powerfull electric motor, you install it, then hook it to a couple of batteries right? how do you recharge the batteries? in laymen terms, I like a simple but good setup. Thanks

I would think that,on a 12fter,a 12V/35-40lb thrust should be sufficient.Using a small 2A/15A portable charger should do the trick. 1 battery should be fine. For longevity you can use 2 batt. wired in parrallel(RED to RED-BLACK to BLACK).

Batteries can be confusing, but I've made a couple pictures that you can use to keep it simple.

Try and remember this:

Parallel wiring - Increases capacity, voltage stays the same.
Series wiring - Increases voltage, amps stay the same.

Charging Batteries

For Deep Cycle batteries, you want to charge them nice and slow. Buy an automatic charger, which will protect your batteries from overcharging.
