So after a great outing the other day, I was noticing a change in thrust in my trolling motor.
Kinda the second time I was thinking about it.
So I went out in the garage and ran the motor on the speed I usually run. Seemed ok. But sound was off.
So ran it a little faster and it seemed to struggle.
Put it on hi and poof, it quit.
I had nothing.
So put it on constant and went to the battery.
Just touched the fuse holder and off it went.
So pulled the fuse holder and the fuse fell apart in my fingers
So it took me 15 min to get the end of the fuse out of the holder because of corrosion.
put the spare fuse in it and off it went.
Still didn’t sound quite right.
so I did a voltage drop test and got a .5V volt drop from the battery to a foot beyond the fuse holder.
Decided to cure this once and for all.
I installed a 40amp circuit breaker.
So no more voltage drop and she is singing like she should.
Will know for sure next outing but, I’m pretty sure she’s happy.
Just a tidbit of info.
There is a right and wrong way to hook up a circuit breaker.
Usually there is some sort of marking for “power” and “aux”,
Might be hard to see. Make sure if your circuit flow.
It does make a difference.
