Trolling motor Plug Gauge

I have a 45lb endura minn kota that I am going to connect to the bow of my boat. I am running 6 ga wire from the battery to the bow. I want to connect this wire to a female pulg receiver. Will i be ok if i use a receiver with 8 ga wire?

Should be fine.. thats what I'm running in mine, because the plugs only take 8 gauge


Did it in my last boat and had it running the length of the boat (14 ft) and it was fine.
