trolling motor three way switch help

I was just given an old Shakespeare 30 trolling motor. The switch in it is bad and I am having a hard time finding a new one. I've checked AutoZone, Orielys and Radio Shack. Does anyone know where I can find one? Its a three way four prong toggle switch. I have found a flat rocker switch that is a three way four prong so could I just use it and mount outside the motor housing, then when I want forward I move it one way and reverse the other? The handle would still control the speed just not the direction. If that makes sense to you all, would it work? I checked the search but didn't see any post matching what I need, so if anyone knows of a post on here that answer that could you point in that direction? Thanks in advance.

Several places to check. Probably the best would be Digikey. Another to check would be Mouser. If you can't find it at those places, you probably won't find it anywhere.

Take it to a NAPA or Carquest store - they are a lot more likely to have it than one of the "big box" parts stores.
