I took my boat out for the first time this year and had problems with the motor - its a 1980 35hp Johnson. Water started leading out of the motor cover - at the seal between the upper and lower cowel. The motor then died and I took it back to the dock with my trolling motor. Ended up there was water in the both cylinders. I pulled the head to get out the water and dumped some oil in the cylinders. I noticed that the pisser tube fitting broke- would this then fill the engine compartment with water high enough for it to get sucked into the carb and then dump water into the cylinders? I did drain the bowl on the carb and it looked like it may have had water in it, it was kid nof hard to tell as it doesn't hold much fuel.
Any ideas anyone?
Would the pisser tube pump enough water to cause this?

Possibly could be the water by pass.It could also be a bad head gasket.Have you tried running the engine with the cowl off? That may give you a chance to see where it's coming from.

If your cowl has a tight enough seal I guess it would be possible to pump enough water for the carb to get a good dose. It could also be that the pisser leak was pointed at the carb and was spraying water on it.

I agree with ben2go. Run it with the cowl off on a hose and see what happens.
