Ok I am trying to figure out what I have to do to hook my alternator up to my battery. I have a 2003 mercury 15hp fourstroke pull start. It says the pull starts have a 6 amp 73 watt alternator and the electric starts have a 10 amp 130 watt alternator. I was looking into getting a battery charger but am confused. Does this work off the alternator and have the option to plug in to the wall too? If someone could enlighten me I would greatly appreciate it. I just want to be able to give my battery a little bit of a charge when I am out on the water with the outboard running. I am planning on running a 40 lb bow mount tm and a fish finder and some lights, a livewell and possibly a stereo down the road. There are 4 wires near my air intake that are not connected to anything but have power I am assuming these have something to do with the alternator. I am confused, does it have a power and a ground off the alternator? Or just a power?
