I have acquired a 1956 Starcraft 14' semi-v boat with wooden seats. One of the side seats in the stern is missing. What kind of wood should I use to replace it?

Do you plan on painting or varnishing the wood? If painted exterior grade plywood would be ok. White oak looks good with several coats of Spar varnish / urethane. Don't forget to seal the wood and never use pressure treated wood.

This is great, I'm replacing my wooden seats on my StarCraft also. I purchased Marine Grade plywood (for Transom also). What paint should i use and how do i protect it?
