Yamaha 15AK does not give a spark

Hello.
I have bought an 15 HP engine.
When I test the plugs on a other engine, the sparkplugs are working great!
But when I put them on the Yamaha 15AK ignition they don't spark.

But the ignition does give a (voltage).
By the previous owner (a other sparkplug) was sparking great on the same ignition!
What should be the problem?

What is the best to do.

I don't have this type of motor so I keena be too helpful.

However, if the motor ran without issue prior to the swap to new plugs then that would be the starting point.

Ensure that the new plugs are making good contact with the cable. Also ensure you have continuity from the spark generator through the plug.

what is the actual model number on the motor? Yamaha made a ton of different 15's.

Something worth noting. Ground. Many Yamaha engines have a thick coating of that gray paint on the powerhead, and when attempting to do a spark test by grounding the plug against the paint, it won't provide a good ground because the paint is an insulator. I have run into this often. I usually tell the GF, or another coworker to hold the plug while I pull the rope. If they jump, it's got spark

Had to laugh on that one.. I did the same thing with my buddy across the road when I was working on my Gamefisher motor.. :roll: :lol: :twisted: It had spark also...
