I just picked up a Penn fierce 5000 on eBay for about $40. Very well built reel, all metal construction. Very well balanced and turns smooth. I haven't used it yet so I don't know about the drag, but reviews have been good. All in all I'm happy with it. It is kinda heavy though.
I like rubber and I have found everything you said to be true about mine. I've only had it three years, so don't know if dry rot is going to be a problem.
Just wondering if we were doing one this month. I'm not really much of a photographer myself, but I do enjoy viewing and voting on the great shots other people take.
I don't know about a jonboat, but I used to haul a 12 ft kayak in the back of my truck no problem. The only thing I would be concerned with is the weight if you will be loading and unloading by yourself.
This is what I do. The only drawback I've found is that sometimes I wind up cleaning just 1 or 2 fish some trips. With a livewell I could let what I catch go if I don't get enough for a meal.
This is probably a dumb question. I was recently given a series 27 deep cycle battery. (It pays to take your friends fishing. 8) ) I have a 2 amp on board charger for a riding lawn mower that I put jumper cable connectors on. My question is can I charge the deep cycle battery with this or...
