Removed the crankcase cover today. Didn't take long to find the problem, but the question is why. When the lower piston is in the down stroke, the bottom of the piston skirt is bottoming out on the lip/flange at the bottom of the cylinder.

When connecting the shift rod halves, should the connector bolts be tightened only until tight or until the gaps in the connector are closed?

Anyone know of an online source for spaghetti gasket (309044) that sells by the foot. I hate spending $30 for a 50 foot roll when I only need a foot or so.
