Tracker grizzly mod-v 1648 side console, with a 24v trolling motor connected to batteries in my bow storage compartment, and a Garmin 106sv echomap mounted on the console that's run off the cranking battery (Bass Pro set everything up this way).

Considering getting livescope, and am curious about how others have set theirs up. Not looking to get an additional screen, so I'm not sure if I should get a new cranking battery that can also support the live scope, so I don't have to drill any holes in my bow locker/casting deck, and can disconnect the livescope transducer and lock it in the bow compartment;

Or, mount the black box in the bow compartment, run it off the trolling motor batteries, and just prop the front hatch open a bit and pull the transducer out when I want to use it, so I can still lock it away when not in use.

I plan on a pole mount setup for the transducer.

Interested in any thoughts, ideas, and perspectives, thank you!

I have had mine set up front, using the trolling motor batteries and also in the back, using the cranking battery, and both worked well with no issues.

Currently, I am using a dedicated 50 amp hour TimeUSB lithium battery for it, as I have made a portable set up that I can take on other boats. I like being able to take it off the boat, and it works great as a stand alone set up.

I have a 93SV and a 106SV and I will put one or the other on the portable unit. If I am alone in my tin boat, I just plug it directly to the fishfinder in the boat and I put the pole right next to my driving seat and I fish from right there. If I am in my big center consul, I set one on the front of the consul, facing forward and networked them together, so that I can see the screen no matter where I am in the boat..

I don’t used to livescope all of the time, mainly when fishing structure for crappie. It can be a good tool, but it can also turn into watching TV which I don’t mind. I think it’s pretty neat being able to see what stone there. Sometimes it will surprise you

It is funny that one of my nephews that I fish with loves livescope and the other one hates it. The hater tries to prove that he can catch more without it, but more often than not he loses, and eventually he starts looking at it too.

Thank you for the info! It's nice to know that at least a few people have used it portably without issue. That kind of eases my concerns about placement and trying to secure equipment if I park the boat overnight at a hotel or something. It also seems like it'd help resolve the issue of the short cables that come with it. I most often fish from the driver's seat since my fish finders mounted on the console, so I'd probably do the same with a pole mount next to me.

That's pretty funny about your nephews. I'm sure doesn't take long for the one who doesn't like the livescope to start using it after he gets behind in his fish count lol

He is in that grumpy teenager stage (14) so he just gets mad. But interestingly, when his 2 year older brother isn't on the boat, he's fine with it. Those two are way too competitive.
