Best I've done is 49mph with 2 guys in the boat. I think the motor needs dropped a notch. It would probably do better with a different prop as well, but the one I have was given to me, so it'll do for now. Fuel economy is fantastic and I'm not much of a speed demon anyway.

It runs fine with just me, but when ya have a passenger or 2 and you get into any sort of chop, you can definitely hear some cavitation. The motor was definitely not a gift. It was a 2 year old brand new in the crate though. Considerably cheaper than a new model. A guy down the street gave me the prop.

Before you move ANY OB ... have someone else at the helm and peek over the stern, where the vent plate should be just skimming the surface of the water. Ususally - if anything - OBs are set TOO deep.

You should just see it at the surface as per below, this a V6 on a 26" setback bracket, so I raised her a good 3-holes over where the 'Dealer' put her to get it like this ... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Beautiful job! The before and after is simply...WOW! Curious...what is the MAX OB rating and passenger weight capacity? I would think you could take a 2 stroke HP of stated motor capacity and year of boat and that would give you a weight capacity and then compare it to your new 115 weight and see where you are at.
