Apparently i is was a little off on my weight the scale showed 235lbs yesterday not 280-290 lbs . I just bought this boat so i’m trying to stick it out and by the sounds of it everyone is saying stick with 5hp

the beam is 52 inches it’s 8 inches less then the 14 ft boat i just sold . Does an extra 8 inches make that much of a difference when it comes to how stable it is .

I just bought a new G3 1036 jon boat and max hp is rated at 5hp . Can i go any higher like a mercury or yamaha 8 hp or 9.9 . I bought an identical boat to that in april for $750 only difference was it’s a 14 footer . $750 got me a Boat,trailer and a 42 hp mercury. I wouldn’t pay more then $1500 looks to be in decent shape and you could always add extra supports in the hull if your worried

Reading these forums has me a little worried i just bought a new G3 10ft wider then the alumacraft version . At 290 lbs alittle worried it might flip on me

What about drilling a small hole at end of crack and then use brazing rods to fill in crack .

I’m replacing the Transom in my 14 ft MirroCraft and i’ve just found a crack at the bottom of one of the holes where the bolts go through to bolt the transom to back of the boat inside the hull . Looks like the last owners over tightened the bolts and now there’s a crack at one of the bolt...

Replace the transom to me would mean the plywood transom at the back of the boat

Decided to go with .063 Aluminum checker $158 a sheet but i’ll never have to worry again

how about using countertop epoxy resin to seal wood . i can get a 1 gallon kit for $99 plus tax vs $130 + for 1 quart of west systems

Not to hijack this thread but i was going to ask the same questions. Being here in canada everything is $$$ and i can’t afford west system epoxy right now .If i used bondo fibreglass resin to seal the wood then paint it would it last or is spar urethane ,or oil based porch paint the best bet

I’m looking to use Goop coat it on my 14 ft Aluminum boat can i use it on the inside ribs and seams only or do i need to flip it over and do the bottom vs inside

it’s still 100% safe and useable boat the last owner mounted a 2x6 across both sides at the back for rod holders or down riggers and i’ve noticed a few other holes on the top Gunnels .
