Another possible issue with new Minn Kota

My brand new Ulterra did the same thing, still does now. I think it's something in the design but I'm not completely sure.

    Adding A Second Motor

Honestly I think they just want to make it difficult on people to reduce numbers- unfortunately to no avail. Our designated trout ponds open the 3rd weekend of April, and at 4am on some of these little 10-20 acre ponds there will be 100 boats lined up in a que to launch. Many of them $80k bass...

    Adding A Second Motor

On my 14' Starcraft with a 25hp 2 stroke I used to put a little 6hp 4 stroke on the side to do exactly what you are looking to do. Here in NH we can fish hp restricted lakes if the main has a trash bag duct taped over the motor and the prop is removed. Quite common on opening day for hp...

    LiFePO4 Battery ?

I didn't even think you were supposed to connect two different ages of batteries, even of the same type, because the more worn one will reduce the performance of the new one. That's just what I have been told- probably by a guy selling batteries to be fair.

New Minn Kota with Heading Sensor - Install ?s

The reason they like it further than 2' is the algorithm is based on triangulation and the further away it is from the TM head, the easier the computer can do the math. That said I've encountered plenty of installs just like yours and not heard it to be a problem. I mounted mine near my drivers...

    Marine Vinyl Install Question

I used contact cement when I did my my Nautolex vinyl. The Nautolex 88 was too dang expensive.

    1992 Lund Tyee 1850 restoration

It's easy to make vinyl seam perfectly. Lay your vinyl down, overlap the pieces where the seam will be. Glue down both sides away from where the seam will be so the vinyl is fixed in place and can't move at all. After it's dry and fixed in place, cut both pieces at the overlap with a very sharp...

    1992 Lund Tyee 1850 restoration

Marine grade is intended for glassing. The only difference in marine grade plywood is the spec calls for less than 10% void space within the sheet. Where this is important is when you are making a substrate for fiberglass and completely encasing the assembly with resin. The more voids there are...

1 or 2 Batts for Starting and House?

What size are your graphs and do you have any imaging? As long as they aren't 15's or above and as long as you don't have imaging processors I'd say that is plenty of power. Even with you'd probably be fine for 8 hours. A 31g AGM is a lot of power.

    Battery Boxes OR Trays?

It's my understanding that if the battery is punctured a leak is the least of your worries. That said, what Buster said above is a good point, boxes keep the terminals covered and less likely to make contact with something they aren't supposed to.

5 hp outboard use for trolling

Yep, or they are a liar!

Trolling Motor Circuit Breakers - 60amp

I'd say I'm within 7" of the pos terminal, mounted on the inside wall of the center battery compartment before the lead wire goes 7' forward to the trolling motor.

Long or extra long kicker outboard?

Mine is just to keep the downrigger wires out of the prop if I have an oopsie. Like catching a fish at 120' deep with a ton of blowback on the cable in a 20mph blow and I spin around by mistake. And I built it myself out of $2 in aluminum flat stock and some stainless screws I had laying around.

    No one ice fishing?

I've been through the ice while on foot in very deep water. I've also sunk one of my snowmobiles and one time was in a pickup that went through the ice. Not a single one of those times was fun!

    No one ice fishing?

I ride my sled at least 3500 miles a season. These days you have to be dedicated to it, and it's expensive since you have to chase snow. Sometimes it's good in Northern NH, sometimes it's better in Maine, sometimes you need to go to Canada. So I spend a lot of time trailering my sled and buying...

LiTime LifePO Batts - Where did you purchase?

I'll only buy from Amped Outdoors. They are based in Wisconsin. Jeff was amazing in helping me build my battery box, very responsive and helpful.

Any one seen one like this?

Looks homemade to me, but that's not a bad thing! Looks like it will do the job! I don't think boats needed a HIN until the 70's or maybe even later so that may not mean anything.

    NEW Terrova 24V/80#/60"!!!

I don't believe it's just for jogging, although it would be certainly used for that purpose as well. It's a heading sensor to make sure the motor knows where the front of the boat is. If you straight line troll, like with downriggers, the heading sensor makes sure it goes in the direction you...

Lithiums on MK 24V/80/60...NO Speeds Higher than 85% for Prolonged Times?

That would be a concern for me, but I agree with LDUBS, it's likely a CYA statement by Minn Kota. I am almost always trolling with auto pilot and cruise control on and if I change heading into the wind, maybe my enclosure is up and I'm trolling 8 lines, I gotta lot of stuff going on- it...

    NEW Terrova 24V/80#/60"!!!

Mount your heading sensor as far away from the motor as you can with it still having line of sight to the head while deployed. If you can get more than 4 feet you will be amazed at the accuracy. I put mine just in front of the driver side windshield. If you are coming from a PD, prepare to be...
